My Motivational Speeches

We booked Steve for our school Sports Celebration Evening having had individual pursuit and Olympic athletes present to us in previous years. Steve's attitude to the event was tremendous, giving students warmth and encouragement throughout the evening.

I whole heartedly recommend his presentation which is both unusual, humorous and thought provoking, but most of all really well presented. Steve's style and story are not those typically associated with 'a life of football,' but paint perfectly the ups and downs of a career in sport.

Our students showed their full appreciation on the evening and have also spoken since of the impression left by Steve.

Steve came into the academy as a guest speaker for our annual Presentation Evening. This is the second time that he has been in to speak to our pupils, parents and staff for an event of this kind and we were thrilled to welcome him back.

Steve gave a very inspirational talk about resilience, never giving up and then need to reinvent yourself at times. He was a huge hit with students and parents alike, many of who remember him with great affection from his days at Wolverhampton Wanderers!

‘Simply Wow’ – I had the pleasure of meeting Steve Daley during the early months of 2015.  He is extremely likeable with a genuine and engaging aura and personality.  It is a real privilege to hear him share his truly inspirational life experiences.  He spoke with humour and real pragmatism about his roller coaster career, right through from his humble beginnings to the pinnacle of becoming the most expensive footballer in the world and most talked about footballer in Britain, to some real lows and challenges with Manchester City.

Steve is an inspiration to us all, whether we are mature or young adults. The testimonies from school’s Steve has visited during the past 12 months articulate very passionately the impact Steve has had with those young people, the more opportunities Steve has to share his incredible journey, life experiences and wisdom the better for us all.

We had the honour of Steve ending our Education Leadership Conference in 2015, Steve’s presentation truly inspired the delegates - their feedback echoed what Ofsted would say ‘Outstanding ……. Truly Inspirational …….’

Maltby Academy Sports Dinner - After Dinner Speaker: Mr Steve Daley

Dear Steve

I write to thank you for attending our Annual Sports Dinner at the New York Stadium and for giving such an inspirational presentation. You pitched your after dinner speech/presentation perfectly and adapted the more challenging chapters in your life story to suit the younger audience. Even now I am still receiving positive feedback from the parents/students who attended and they all certainly enjoyed your input.

It was lovely to meet you and your wife on the evening. As you will appreciate when organizing any sporting dinner or celebration event, the most important decision that has to be made is the choice of the after dinner speaker. We are delighted that some of our colleagues who had listened to you previously at an event, considered our requirements and had no hesitation in recommending you for this function. As promised, you proved a highly entertaining speaker, whose natural warmth and desire to deliver a serious message and make a difference to the lives of others came across clearly. You successfully blended humorous anecdotes with a number of strong motivational messages so that even those in the audience with limited knowledge of sport were able to relate to the key lessons for life.

In conclusion, we have no hesitation in recommending Steve Daley for other sporting celebration or presentation events. He proved an entertaining and thought provoking presenter who enthralled the audience with his life story. Funny, engaging and someone whose determination to succeed was clear for all to see and an inspiration to both young and old in the audience.

Feedback from guests on the evening included:

"an inspirational message"

"at the time I never realized what challenges he faced in his career and personal life"

"outstanding after dinner speaker"

"the speaker addressed the challenges he faced in his life in a natural and humane way"

"excellent, best speaker I've heard for many years"

"the best sports evening yet, made all the more special by the quality of the speaker"

As you can see the audience at Maltby Academy enjoyed a memorable evening of celebration and a large part of this was down to the quality of the after dinner speaker.

We look forward to working with you again.

Kind Regards

Dave Sutton - Executive Principal - Maltby Academy

Hi Steve,

Speaking to the students after your presentation the general feedback was that they thoroughly enjoyed what was a fascinating life story. Personally I liked the way you made your story relevant to their course, by linking it to current topics and Units they study. I feel by you speaking with such passion and conviction about these topics, you have reinforced and cemented what Richard and I try to instill in the lads on a regular basis.

Kindest regards

Wolves and England’s Steve Daley Motivates Students

On the 21st April 2015, we welcomed former Wolves, Manchester City and England midfielder Steve Daley to Heath Park to share his inspirational life story with Year 10 and 11 students. Steve walked the students through his life from humble beginnings to his meteoric rise at Wolves followed by his record breaking transfer to Manchester City. He then talked about his struggles with depression before his life changing experiences especially in America.

An engrossed hall erupted into applause at the conclusion of the talk and it was clear for all to see that the students had really gained a lot from the honest and frank presentation. Daley’s mantra of pursuing your beliefs, goals and targets hit a chord with the students, many of whom remained behind afterwards to speak one-to-one.

We would like to thank Steve for his excellent session, which was given an encore with staff after school, and we hope to see him in school again in the near future.

Student Testimonials

The talk was very interesting and motivating and made me consider the possibilities by simply setting goals and striving to achieve them…A real role model.

Eye-opening and inspirational. I felt motivated as soon as I walked out of the door and the story of the talk will stay with me, as will the message.

Thought provoking and at times funny. Thank you for letting us on the inside of your career and your life and making us aware that no matter how low you feel, you can always bounce back.

It made me realise how you should always think in a positive manner and aim for your own goals.

It made me realise that life can be difficult and that there are obstacles in life that you have to overcome and keep moving forward

"Steve came into school to speak to our Year 11 Boys. Like most schools they are a group that we always feel can do better but the problem is trying to unlock their motivation and potential. We invited Steve in to talk about his incredible life story and what he'd learnt along way.

His speech was brilliant, by far the best that I've heard. It was funny, hard hitting and above all else inspirational. It was pitched perfectly and really hit the intended target. The boys completely bought into his message of hard working and the need to make good decisions.

I'd happily highly recommend Steve to any school. "
